Effective date: March 19, 2026
Last updated: March 19, 2026

Zinc Notes ("Zinc Notes," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use:

  • zincnotes.com and related web pages (the "Website"), and
  • the Zinc Notes mobile applications for Android and iOS, along with related software and services (collectively, the "App").

Zinc Notes is designed to minimize data collection. The core intent of the product is to avoid collecting personally identifiable information directly from users wherever possible.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Website and the App.

It does not apply to third-party websites, services, platforms, operating systems, app stores, or providers that may interact with Zinc Notes, including Apple, Google, your internet service provider, hosting providers, reverse proxy providers, DDoS mitigation providers, or device manufacturers. Those third parties may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you create in the App

Zinc Notes is designed as a local-first note-taking product.

Notes, content, and related data you create in the App are intended to remain under your control and stored on your device unless you choose to export, back up, sync, transmit, or otherwise move that data using functionality or third-party services that are separately disclosed.

2.2 Personal information

We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information directly from users through the ordinary use of the Website or the App, such as names, mailing addresses, or phone numbers.

We do not require account creation to use the core product, unless and until such functionality is added and this Privacy Policy is updated.

2.3 Website cookies and similar technologies

The Website does not use cookies.

2.4 Server logs, reverse proxy logs, and network security logs

Like most websites and online services, the infrastructure used to deliver the Website may process technical information such as:

  • IP address,
  • request headers,
  • requested URLs,
  • timestamps,
  • referrer information,
  • user-agent strings,
  • basic error or security event data.

This information may be stored in server logs, reverse proxy logs, and DDoS/security logs for purposes such as service delivery, security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, troubleshooting, and system administration.

We do not use this information for advertising profiling or cross-site behavioral tracking.

2.5 App marketplace and platform data

If you download or use the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple and Google may independently collect information relating to app distribution, diagnostics, crash reporting, purchases, device state, or account activity under their own privacy policies.

In particular, crash logs and similar diagnostics may be collected by the app marketplace or platform operator independently of us.

3. How We Use Information

We use limited information only as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide and operate the Website and the App,
  • maintain service reliability and security,
  • detect, prevent, and investigate abuse or malicious activity,
  • debug and fix technical issues,
  • comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request,
  • protect our rights, users, and the public.

We do not use personal information for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral profiling.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, any limited processing described in this Privacy Policy is carried out on one or more of the following bases:

  • legitimate interests, such as operating, securing, and improving the Website or App,
  • performance of a contract or providing requested services,
  • compliance with legal obligations,
  • consent, where consent is required by law.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information.

We do not share personal information for targeted advertising.

We may disclose limited information only:

  • to hosting, infrastructure, reverse proxy, and security providers as necessary to operate and protect the Website or App,
  • when required by law, court order, subpoena, or other legal process,
  • when reasonably necessary to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues,
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

6. International Users

Zinc Notes may be accessed from multiple jurisdictions.

Depending on where you are located, local law may provide rights relating to access, deletion, correction, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or complaints to a regulatory authority.

Because Zinc Notes is designed to minimize direct collection of personal information, some rights may not apply in practice unless we hold information about you in a specific context.

7. Data Retention

We retain log and technical data only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, operations, troubleshooting, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.

Content you create in the App is intended to remain on your device unless you choose to move it elsewhere.

If you contact us by email, we may retain your email address, message, and related correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain records, or protect our legal interests.

8. Children's Privacy

Zinc Notes is not directed to children under the age at which parental consent is required under applicable law.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. Contacting Us

If you contact us at zincnotes@gmail.com, we will receive whatever information you choose to include, such as your email address and the contents of your message.

We use that information only to communicate with you, respond to your inquiry, and maintain related records as reasonably necessary.

10. Your Choices

You may be able to control privacy-related functionality through your browser, device, operating system, app marketplace, and network settings, including by:

  • limiting app permissions,
  • deleting local app data,
  • uninstalling the App,
  • using device-level privacy settings,
  • limiting network access.

Because Zinc Notes is designed to minimize direct data collection, many privacy choices can be exercised directly on your device.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the Website and App against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission, storage, or electronic processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Third-Party Services and Platforms

The Website and App may rely on third-party providers and platforms, including:

  • web hosting providers,
  • reverse proxy and DDoS protection providers,
  • DNS or CDN providers,
  • Apple App Store,
  • Google Play,
  • mobile operating system vendors,
  • browser vendors.

Those third parties may independently process technical or personal data under their own privacy policies.

13. Do Not Track

Because we do not use the Website for targeted advertising or cross-site behavioral tracking, the Website does not currently respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

14. Region-Specific Disclosures

14.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions

If applicable law such as the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may have rights including the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to certain processing of personal data, as well as the right to data portability where applicable.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority.

14.2 California and other U.S. state privacy laws

If applicable law grants you rights regarding personal information, you may have rights to know, access, delete, or correct certain personal information, and rights relating to sale, sharing, or targeted advertising.

Zinc Notes does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, the Website, the App, or our data practices.

When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Website or App after changes become effective means the updated Privacy Policy will apply to your use to the extent permitted by law.
